There will be no post this week. Well, no real post — this one doesn’t count.
The reason? The case remains unresolved. At the time of this writing, only one juror has cast their vote. Eleven remain silent. And my Plan B — the fallback in case the full dozen never materialize — is proving more maddening than clarifying. I’m not inching toward a conclusion; I’m spiraling deeper into confusion.
After mounting my case like a seasoned advocate — first against padding-left, then in favor of margin-left — I managed to flip the certainties of two AI witnesses. But now, I’ve flipped too; somehow, I’ve ended up believing that padding-left was the solution all along. The irony is not lost on me.
To be sure, I asked them again — one last time. (I know, I know… Will I ever learn?) And guess what? After months of confidently asserting that padding-left was the correct choice for my use case, they now insist — repeatedly — that margin-left is the best practice. And so my doubts bubble like mad.
Speaking of madness, here’s a thought: I’m not logged in when using Copilot. So, in theory, it shouldn’t retain any memory of our previous conversations. So yes, I can understand it flip-flopping within a session. But why does it now argue for margin-left — the exact opposite of its former stance — and with the same confidence and consistency as it did before the flip for padding-left? Did it leave behind some memory cookie? Something like: “Be aware, this user is obsessed with margin-left.” Was my advocacy so convincing that I rewired Copilot at its core? I thought it couldn’t learn from our exchanges.
Now add to that the sleep deprivation, the obsessive pursuit of a verdict, and the hourly flip-flopping of my own brain — padding-left!, no, margin-left!, no, neither! — and you get a recipe for a descent into madness. And fittingly, this post will be published on a 23 — the number that haunted a certain movie protagonist into paranoia, obsession, and unraveling reality. Coincidence? I’m not so sure anymore.
And with all that, I didn’t even have time to write the other post I had planned — the one about length units, as teased in the previous post. So yes, I need to resolve this case. Or the jury needs to deliver a verdict. Before I lose my sanity for good.
