Previously on the CogitActive Saga:
Having exhausted the machines—I turn to you, dear reader. Can you outsmart the AIs? If you think you can place that widget exactly where it belongs, under the conditions I’ve described, without breaking the theme or the plugin, I would genuinely like to see how you’d do it.
If you’ve been following my recent misadventures — A doorbell out of place — part 2: the PHP challenge and its follow‑up, The PHP challenge, anyone? — you already know that I’ve been wrestling with a very specific double‑headed problem: figuring out when the widget should appear (only when comments are closed) and where it should appear (exactly where the comment form normally lives). As diagnosed in a previous chapter, the plugin currently gets both wrong — it shows up even when comments are open, and it shows up in the wrong place altogether.
I had hoped that, by now, I would be reporting some sort of progress. Or at the very least, that someone out there would have taken pity on me and offered a hint, a clue, a nudge in the right direction. Alas… nothing. No helpful comment magically appeared in my inbox.
No breakthrough. No solution.
So instead of the triumphant, problem‑solving post I wanted to publish this week, you get this filler update — a small marker to say yes, I’m still here, yes, the problem is still unsolved, and no, I haven’t abandoned the challenge. I simply have nothing new to report. Yet.
With a bit of luck (or divine PHP intervention), the next post will be more substantial. Until then, thank you for your patience.
