If you’ve been following this blog, you know that since that fateful summer of 2020, time has been my biggest challenge. Week after week, I’ve struggled to carve out enough space to research, draft, and refine posts that meet my usual standards. What once was a collection of carefully polished articles gradually gave way to rushed, thin-content posts—stopgap measures rather than true reflections of my work.
Every summer, I’ve faced the same choice: either find a way to maintain my weekly publishing schedule or accept that time simply wasn’t on my side. My solutions? Far from ideal. From Summer Polls that didn’t receive a single vote to the fleeting Summer Meditation posts, these efforts were just placeholders. Not just placeholders actually, but concessions—half-measures, outright failures.
But this year, things are different.
But things have changed indeed. You’ve surely noticed a shift in recent posts 1. While I once wrestled with drafts alone, I now have an AI-powered assistant helping refine them.
I am neither a native English speaker nor a natural-born blogger, as you may already know if you follow this blog. Every sentence took hours, as I navigated through my trusted companions—the Oxford Dictionary of English and the Oxford Thesaurus of English. Not to mention the Harrap’s Unabridged for translation matters. Writing a post wasn’t just about assembling thoughts—it was a painstaking process, demanding countless hours of effort. Copilot was—and is—the game changer that makes this summer different!
Admittedly, past summers have not lived up to the blog’s usual standards. Whether it was rushed placeholders or last-minute attempts to fill the gap, the results were far from satisfying. But this time, things are different. Rest assured, I will not let you down—this summer has a plan. The posts you’ll see over the coming weeks are real, prepared, and worth reading.
I’ll be tackling some lingering issues that have surfaced throughout my blogging journey—from recent explorations to long-overdue improvements.
Plugin Cleanup – As I recently discovered while replacing my abandoned reaction plugin, uninstalling (or deleting) a plugin doesn’t always mean it’s truly gone. Settings and data often linger in the database long after the files are removed. While I initially opted for a manual cleanup, as detailed in Beyond ratings: how Rating Widget brings my reaction buttons back to life, I soon realized that a dedicated database cleanup plugin might be necessary after all. This summer, I’ll be tackling this issue head-on, with or without a plugin’s help.
Blog housekeeping expands – Then, I’ll extend my blog housekeeping reflections. While previous efforts have tackled essential content integrity and structural refinements, some were simply too big to address at the time. Now, it’s time to take them on. One key focus will be the <section> element, a fundamental yet often overlooked aspect of content organization that first came to my attention in Turning headings into link targets—cont’d. Implementing it properly presents challenges, but overcoming them will unlock new opportunities for structuring content more effectively. And this is just the beginning—spoiler alert: there will be more than just the <section> element post.
A Surprise Project – I won’t reveal much yet, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.
This summer isn’t about filling space. It’s about progress, depth, and real content. So grab your shades and settle in— this summer is packed with insightful and informative articles.
1 It all started with Maybe with a little help, the moment I first introduced Copilot into my blogging process. ^
