To everyone who has ever cast a reaction on this blog…
If you’ve been following along on this reaction plugin journey, you may have noticed a change in the reaction buttons. My previous plugin had been abandoned, leaving it vulnerable to security risks. Finding a replacement wasn’t easy, and in the process, I ended up with a rating plugin that relied on emojis rather than text. However, the update went beyond just switching plugins.
Rather than simply replicating the old system, I saw an opportunity to rethink the reactions entirely. After all, they had never been carefully planned to begin with. That’s why the new labels—Useless, Not worth it, Interesting, Informative, and You made my day!—don’t match the previous four. It’s a fresh start, but one that came at the cost of all past votes.
Since the old reaction votes were tied to the previous labels, I had to purge everything. That meant wiping out every single vote and starting fresh—painful, considering I had painstakingly added them manually when switching to this new plugin.CogitActive
That was frustrating on my end, but I know it must have been even more disappointing for those who took the time to vote. I regret that this reset erased all the reactions you had shared over time. Every Like, Agree, Disagree, and Thank you was a meaningful part of the conversation, and I truly appreciate the engagement. I sincerely apologize for the loss of those contributions, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated.
Moving forward, I hope you’ll take a moment to explore the new reactions and continue sharing your thoughts. They offer a different way to engage, and I’m eager to see how they shape future discussions. Every vote counts—whether it’s critical or encouraging, each reaction adds to the conversation. And of course, seeing a “You made my day!” will always be a welcome highlight.
Your feedback has always been invaluable, and I truly appreciate your continued participation in this evolving journey.
Thanks again for being part of this adventure!
