Happy 2021!

Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier.’Alfred Lord Tennyson

As we draw our conclusions on this year, I am afraid that we will remember 2020 for something named after the preceding year. Yep, it was – for many – a trying year marked by the coronavirus disease 2019 and I, for certain, had to deal with my share of adversities (see When misfortune strikes, again!). Nonetheless, I have managed to go through, which is unfortunately not the case for too many. Of course, as far as I am concerned, 2020 is – despites all these difficulties – the best year ever with the birth of my baby boy. Sorry, for this moment of pure selfishness!

Focus on joy and forget your fears…

The pandemic is not over, and what was left of my optimism (on that matter) has dwindled to practically nothing. Still, I want to believe in hope. Now, I do not have a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen; still, I wish 2021 to be a year of hope. Actually, when I say I do not have a desire for a particular thing to happen, it is inaccurate: I hope for MANY things to happen. Getting back to normal is definitively on my list…

Keep the smile and leave the tears…
